Buffalo Special 6 plastic or high-priced super jackets often puts my expectations to the test and this leaves me wondering whether the more superior Buffalo Special 6 shirt is worth considering.

Buffalo Special 6 shirt is regarded as a sound investment for its sturdiness, multifunctional feature and performance in different environments. Unlike a few expensive jackets that aren't warm enough without several layers to wear and may be ideal for one season only, the Buffalo shirt works in all seasons except the summer. It’s wind resistant and possesses an effective quick drying capacity as well. It has also been designed practically with worthwhile fittings like large pockets and adjusting features so that it is a cost effective appropriate option for outdoor lovers.

Only problem is they are £200 plus now. First one I bought 30 plus years ago cost me £40. And I don't think the quality is as good now

Great stuff I have had one for years but I have gone back over to wool in my latter days. Vintage swedish M39 with a vast array of pockets, the pockets on the back are really neat, I can carry a flask of tea in one and a pack of sandwiches in the other. I have been wearing it over a T shirt and perfectly warm enough for hiking.

Great review, Phil! The location you chose to demonstrate the effectiveness of the jacket was stunning. It must be much more comfortable to go for thin layers that block out the wind and chill. Have a great week ahead ❤

That sounds fantastic! I will definitely put that top of my gear list. Thank you. This beats all those expensive well known brand names which are nowhere near good enough except for shopping trips in your 4x4. I have subscribed now and I want to see if you have the same brand hiking trousers or something similar. Yes it’s not cheap, but you’re going lighter because you don’t need so many layers. I’m very excited about this. I’m keen to see what other gear you’re using. This made my day

Is this likely the same as the "light British infantry shirt" without the Buffalo label on it that you can buy used in some military goods shops?
I guess if it's military issue they won't have the brand name on it?

Nice one mate. Now that’s a beautiful location and beautiful day for a review. Looks a great jacket. I’ve never had a decent jacket - many years many jackets but nothing ever perfect
Recently bought a Brasher coat which is absolutely brilliant.
But that one looks good - will go on the list for next time. Haven’t got anything like that

I'm all for less is more Phil. I wear a thin ice breaker top and a almost 'sealing out all wind' coat. I haven't heard of the brand and I will make a note when I need to replace what I have. Perfect spot for a review for this jacket. ❄️♀️

Hi, I’ve got a Buffallo jacket, it’s a bit thinner than the Special 6, not sure what name is but like yours it acts as an everything top, walking, cycling or general use, now I’ve seen the Special 6 I might invest in one atb Colin P,

Hi Phil you are in a fantastic location, so beautiful in the snow and that jacket does look and sound great and I like that you only need one thin layer underneath. Very good review and £160 is not bad for a good jacket ~ Anna

I must admit I have to disagree. I've used buffalo or rather I used to use buffalo clothing since I was 18 I'm 60. The issue I found is and it is quite bulky and this is quite expensive now. The other issue I found is the whole clothing system centres around the use of the buffalo sleeping bag which is like Marmite UAE the like it or you don't and that is heavy and that is incredibly bulky what I mean by that is if you get wet in the buffalo clothing which you're supposed to do you're supposed to climb into the buffalo sleeping bag and the buffalo clothing dries out in the sleeping bag or between the layers by which time you need an absolutely enormous rucksack the other up the other issue is I don't find the clothing to be that one in the winter and the cold wind I just thought I'd add my two pence worth to the conversation. The other issue I meant to say was I don't find a certain items of clothing to be that warm if you're wearing it as you're supposed to I noticed you're wearing it with layers underneath. My advice would be to just go to somewhere like decathlon buy a cheap fleece and you'll spend far less money and it'll be lighter more packable more compressible. And I know what's going through in mind regarding the tent the tent was brand new I'd used it once before in the rain perfectly and it's got a 4000 mah hydrostatic head.

I had the Mountain Jacket about 20 odd years ago. It stopped me from getting hypothermia! No idea what happened to it!?! I remember putting a small tear in it, but not enough to chuck it, so God knows...
Every time I need a new jacket, I play with the idea of Buffalo, but always choose something else, then regret it.
