I’m making an upgrade switch from an 11-42 system to the SunRace MX8 11-46 cassette. Am I going to have to make any derailleur adjustments?

In the instance that you wish to upgrade from the 11-42 system to the larger SunRace MX8 11-46 cassette and you already have the 11-speed derailleur installed, it should work with your existing configuration. However, you may be required to shift the B-screw slightly to fit the larger 46-tooth gear. This shift enables the right amount of clearance and desirable shifting capability. The cassette is, of course, compatible with both SRAM and Shimano 11-speed derailleurs.

I installed this last week on my Trek Fuel EX7 29'er. It came stock with a 3x9 configuration. Running it with an XT RD-M8000 Derailleur, an XT M8000 shifter and an SLX M7000 crankset w/32T Shimano M7000 chain ring and a KMC chain. Just an awesome setup. Shifts as smooth as butter and the jump from 40 to 46 is much less drastic than the 37-46 jump on Shimano's version. Ready to tackle some hills I've previously struggled with. Always enjoy your content sir. Thanks!

Great review-as usual. What size front chainring are you using with this 11-46 cassette? I'm still running a 1x9 (32x11-36). It works pretty well-forces me to muscle my 33lbs Specialized Enduro (year 2000 model) up the steep sections.

Thanks amazing content again! I have the XT 11-42T but I have had knee problems recently and I would like to easy loading in my knees on high hills. So how big is the change in reality? I can do all the hills but I just want to go little easier. I can't change the front so this small change on the back is maybe great. How about the chain? Do I have to change the length?

Really good content! I have a SRAM GX 30 x 11-42 and need a 46t bail out gear for steep Moab climbing. Would the Sunrace 11-46 work on my set-up?

With the GS derailleur, were you able to use the stock B-tension screw or did you get a longer one?

Why the actual hell would you want a 46T sprocket ?!!! I have even seen a 50T sprocket (custom made) . You really don't need that size .
