For general use, is the 24 inch iMac superior to the previous 27 inch model?

If you simply wish to do some general work, then the 24 inch iMac can make a better case for itself due to its new visuals, efficiency with the M1 chip, upgrades in SSD and internet usage, and much more. There is also a more moderate pricing along with a good quality screen of about 4.5K. On the other hand, should you need more complex operations, perhaps enhanced graphics or CPU are of concern, then the 27 inch model still can be considered or wait for the anticipated larger M1X iMacs which are said to perform even better.

Seems a little biased towards the M1 model. Spends plenty of time praising what it’s strong in, but then quickly and quietly speeds past its weaknesses.

Don't forget this M1 iMac replaces the 21.5" iMacs with integrated graphics and not the 27" iMacs with discrete GPUs.

So it’s clear that the M1 is amazing, but it’s clearly not perfectly scaled up to desktops as we would like it to be, it will be interesting how all of this evolves in the future

2 reasons why I’m sticking with 24 inch
1. It’s colorful! Gives it that cute nice pastel shade
And 2. It’ll fit on my desk since it’s small.  Heck I’d the get the big one but my desk is small...

I think the IMAC 27” 2020 is the best deal quality price, you get the chance to upgrade the RAM, the I5, or I7 will work very well because you don’t need to care much about overheating or power consumption on such big desktop, the AMD graphics is on another level especially the 5700 16gb XT, and the T2 chip, the already good screen with true tone and those nice speakers and the 1080P camera, black bezels..run some real engineering software on Microsoft bootcamp..ok i am biased, but i own a 2020 intel macbook air and i think the M1 M-air is much better…it’s a completely different story when it comes to the IMacs though.

Not really a fair comparison as the 24" iMac replaces the 21.5" iMac.
The upcoming iMac Pro will be replacing the 27" iMac Pro.

OK all imac 27" owners are here just to be sure if their mac still better and don't feel bad about their acquisition, so they read and say mmm I'm still good yeah!
but what about all of us with even older macs, I have a 2016 macbook pro and I need a new computer so, this is the question I think a lot of people is making them selfs, Do I get the iMac new 24" M1, the intel 27" or should I wait? I edit my own content so my 2016 it's been "good" for my 4k edits but some times with longer content and if I add too many cameras to de the content it starts struggling, I need a new computer...

I’m glad I grabbed the 27” late 2020 Intel iMac when I did.
Every App I used on my late 2013 21.5” before I got this one works great. The M1 for Logic Pro X plugins & some external gear sucks because some are unable to use & completely useless right now.
“In this content it shows that the 27” Intel iMacs are faster than the 23.5” M1 iMac right now”.
Later this year the M1 27” will be released. Till then my Intel iMac will still rock & compete with whatever Apple releases next.

Could you please make content of connecting two external monitors with this iMac 24 inch? That is my dream setup but I'm not sure if using a dock would affect the performance. Please make it as soon as possible.

Hoping someone can give their opinion on my situation: I'm struggling to decide between the 27" and the M1 24" shown in this content. I've read multiple articles, including this one, so I mostly know their pros and cons. However when it comes to the gaming aspect, all this techy speak still makes me a bit confused. Will the M1 24" at 16GB still preform well for gaming? Or would the best option to be purchase the 27" with 8GB (all that's available) and upgrade it on my own? Gaming will not be the main use of whatever one I purchase, was just looking as an option (as I am mainly a console gamer. Main purpose is basically just writing and internet browsing)

I'll take the intel iMac for hugely discounted price and install insane amount of RAMs.
