According to leaks, the next M4 Mac Mini could be the biggest enhancement ever with a sorely needed redesign that has not been seen in nearly fourteen years. This device is expected to be offered in two models: one featuring M4 chip, the other featuring M4 Pro chip. Sources claiming to have seen the new design claim that it is much more compact, closely akin to the size of the Apple TV, and incorporating multiple ports such as three USB-C ports, an HDMI port and a 3.5mm jack. The M4 Pro edition is expected to have extra USB-C ports on the front panel. There are even suggestions that the new mac mini could also be sensibly priced and easily within range of target consumers.

If Apple removes the Type A port for the Mac Mini, there are some things consumers would need to do if they haven't.  Those things are:

- Use a Bluetooth wireless mouse or Bluetooth mouse & keyboard combo.  Between $50 to $80 USD new.
- Get A type A to type C dongle adapter.  Between $5 to $20 USD new.
- Get a dual type A & type C usb stick for transferring over files or loading files.  Between $10 to $25 USD new.

Main thing I want is a base Mac Mini with more storage (256 is inadequate, 512 minimum) and more ports (2 USB-C/TB is inadequate, need 4 minimum). Red Flag going up: 3 USB-C with loss of 2 USB-A would be a step backwards.

If mac mini m4 had more storage and sd card slot on top of all the rumours, it would be literally one of the most bang for you buck computers out there and it's not even close.

Personally, I'd rather not see a smaller Mac Mini. I'd much rather they left it the existing size, with more I/O ports and the ability to add in additional storage as needed.

This way, it will also work with my existing Satechi USB-C stand/hub for the Mac Mini and means I won't have to go and buy a new one.

I’m curious about the m4 pro Mac mini. I have a M3 Pro MacBook which is great so I don’t need to upgrade that any time soon but having a miniature powerhouse for a desktop computer would be nice for editing.

I will be buying the new Mac mini M4 Pro and I'm so glad I waited! I'm a little bummed about losing a USB port over my 2018 Intel Mac mini, because I still use a legacy scanner and UPS, but I can get adapters. Not keen on using the front USB-C ports for anything that has to stay connected, but I'll get over it. Really wish Apple would keep the four USB-C ports on the back. I travel with my Mac mini and use my 12.9" iPad Pro as the main display with Luna Display, so the reduced size is very welcome!
