How Does the New Camera Control Button on the iPhone 16 Work?

Explain to me how the new camera control button on the iphone 16 functions.

The iPhone 16’s new camera control button is intended to make it easier to take photos and videos. One push starts the camera, another shuts the camera and takes pictures, long pressing the button records a clip while going deep to the button shows a list of options wherein the user can roll the finger to adjust the focus range or color variations. But it should be taken into account that the usability and quality of this option might be influenced by the type of cover used and the way the phone is held.

I’m gonna look to upgrade because I’m coming from an iPhone 11/iPhone SE (2020), which is basically an iPhone 8. Going from that to the 16 will be so wild!

So they add an upgraded ACTION BUTTON, I’m able to launch the camera with the action button and with the volume up i can take the photo, still don’t  understand that new button.

Bridget hits the nail on the head with the “holding it wrong” comment - inadvertent camera button presses are my biggest concern. I also can’t see myself ever adjusting settings by sliding my finger on the camera button. 2:40

i'll pass on the 16, it has no new features i want or need, i have a 12 max pro that does everything i need, i always like to use a case and keep my phone in tip top condition but i'm wondering if a case would be possible with the new button
