The Vatican Museums are places I often hear impressive but mixed feedback on. Should I include them in my itinerary or should I give them the pass?

Art is abundant at the Vatican Museums, but the sheer number of visitors and the inability to move or look at the art in a leisurely way is quite disconcerting. If what matters to you is art, then perhaps go ahead and take a chance with the crowd.

Thanks for the tip re the Vatican museum - we will avoid it! Had a similar experience at the Louvre

I just returned from Rome,  I agree the Vatican museum was a waste of time and money.   Way too crowded  you can’t really see anything .  He also didn’t mention the Italian people are the most welcoming and friendly people you’ll meet.  It truly is a magical place

You have to book a tour to the Vatican before the museum opens. They sell out months in advance but it's so worth it. We had the best time and were able to see everything and learn about the art and tapestries.

Happy I visited Rome and Vatican before the influencer plague started seriously. There should be a uploading tax for any travel destination content. Stop overtourism caused by greedy influencers.

The biggest thing I need to see at the Vatican is the Augustus of Prima Porta.
