Reading out your question, I quite share this interest, but considering that I haven't quite seen those roads myself, the answer is negative. Do not lose hope, however, for there are various ways to luxuriate in the feelings of a Roman roads traveler and look upon the places they intersect.

The Appian Way or Antica Via Appia as it is also known offers an interesting way of experiencing Roman history and its road routes. The road in question is considered to be of early origin and high relevance for the movement circuits of Rome which is why there is a proper one today. You can stroll along a beautiful pine-covered stretch of road today, with lush meadows on either side’s dotted with historic ruins. There are group tours but also the opportunity to rent an e-bike to get about a little quicker. Moreover, there arise questions regarding the term milestone in the context of Roman roads as these were supposedly erected with intervals of 1000 paces.

I can definitely recommend the Catacomb of Santa Domatilla.  It’s a marvelous place to visit.  Walking the Appian Way on Sundays is wonderful too.

I’m so glad I discovered your channel!  I like how you include historical information like the “mille milestone” story and also, how to correctly pronounce local phrases.  Grazie!

Despite being to Rome many times I've still not made it to the Via Appia! It will have to be next time. Lovely content, thank you for sharing.

Hiiiii @theintrepidguide is it allowed to drive down the appian road with a vespa? I am seeing guided tours on scooters, but can't find any info online if it's permitted (on own initiative and apart from pedestrian Sundays) Hope you can help me out with some info, thank you in advance and great content ❤️
