What is V2 Max and Why is it Important?

Sabe, I am quite intrigued by the V2Max and its relevance. Can you, perchance, clarify this for me in the simple manner?

V02 Max, or V2 Max, is basically the evaluation of the body's ability to utilize oxygen during maximum physical exercises. It is also a functional measurement of aerobic capacity and is representative of one’s health state. The higher the V2 Max, the more efficient the human body is in utilizing the crucial element oxygen which is needed to sustain life and improve fitness levels. This is believed to be the alpha and the omega of cardiovascular function. This is also associated with life expectancy.

Ok, you had me hooked right from the start. But you kept on TALKING and I may not finish the content. I really don't need to know that plants produce oxygen. Just tell us how to increase our VO2!

Hmm. If I remember my grade 9 Biology correctly, Oxygen is a byproduct of photosynthesis, not an input. In fact the plant is converting your expelled CO2 to make O2!

The Maximal Lactate Steady State (MLSS or Lactacidemia) is the Gold Standard, secondly you can use Critical Power (CP) and thirdly VO2 max, therefore VO2 max is not the best predictor of fitness, perhaps be the most popular, but not the Gold Standard.
