Is it safe to assume that my fitness watch can estimate my V2 Max value, and does it do so accurately?

Despite being popular tools for fitness enthusiasts, fit watches cannot widely be relied on for measuring V2 Max as they usually resort to motion detection providing ‘estimates’. Such estimates would probably vary based on one’s activity and would therefore hardly indicate an individual’s V2 Max. It is advisable to perform certain tests that closely mimic standardized protocols, such as the ones used in a V2 Max Challenge, to provide more accurate results.

My watch tells me I’m in the top 1% for my age and as fit as someone less than half my age — I’m not risking finding out I’ve been lied to

My Garmin watch lies too.. puts me as excellent for my age… sssh I have a pedelec that can get my 19st frame up a hill but my heart rate I keep below 129… the beta blockers help too seriously all these fitness watches do not account for assistance from e-bikes or the effects of heart meds or offer you the chance to enter these into algorithms
