A camel's hump is made up of fatty tissues which contain energy and sustenance for the body when food is not available. The size of the camel's hump is also a sign of health; the larger the hump, the better the camel's health. Well-fed camels have a sustentative muscular tissue within the hump to aid thermoregulation and the structure maintains an ‘up’ position.
