You got that right; pirates did indeed capture Julius Caesar at one point in his life. How can you tell your friend about it, and what happened to Caesar after he got free? Could you offer further insight on this event and what followed after Caesar was freed?

When he was about 20 years old, Julius Caesar was taken by pirates who captured him. Even in bondage, Caesar did not take lesser position under any circumstance. In fact, he made a fun remark to the abductors that they should demand more money as his ransom, and then he would get them killed. He did eventually pay them off; however, he never forgot what he went through and took it out on his captors by having them nailed to crosses.

Also for number 25 - When Caesar found out how much the pirates wanted for him, he made them ask for more (not sure how much) because he thought the first amount was an insultingly low offer.

Did you know that two of our presidents started out as indentured servants when they were children?  Andrew Johnson was sold to a tailor, and he made his own clothes for the rest of his life.  Millard Fillmore was sold to a weaver.

Ummm...which Caesar? Caesar is a title, not a name. There was Julius (whom I'm pretty certain you're referring to as he's the most well-known) but, between 49 BC to 96 AD there were 11 other Caesars: Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius, Nero (did NOT burn down Rome - he got a bad rap from political opponents), Galba, Otho, Vitellius, Vespasian, Titus, and Domitian.

Xena: Warrior Princess fictionalized Caesar’s capture by pirates. She was the pirate who kidnapped him, and it sparked a rivalry that lasted until her and his death (in the show).
