What Was the Significance of Flamingo Tongues in Ancient Rome?

Somebody has told me that flamingo tongues were eaten in ancient Rome. Could anyone expand on their importance?

Les amoureux de la gastronomie romaine appelaient ce delicatessen “langue », et considerada especialmente sabrosa. En los hogares, la lengua y algunas veces hasta el cerebro, eran asados y consumidos en las mejores casas por los ricos.

some crazy guy went into the flamingo pin  at busch gardens, picked up the flamingo and brutally slammed him into the ground severing his leg. He had to be euthanized.
