Are Ladybugs Really Cannibals?

From a distant past, I had this idea that ladybugs are a second form of ‘mother nature’ and do no harm. However, can it be true they can eat each other?

Certainly, yes. Loss of food sources can lead ladybugs to turn into vicious cannibals and devour their own, including their larvae and young ladybugs that are still soft shelled and easy to grasp by the adults.

Lady bugs are sweet gentle and pretty little bugs.
They only eat aphids, a pest that ruins plants, so the lady bugs are very much needed.
They can be purchased for putting in your garden.
They are a carnivore, like a kitty cat, which eats primarily meat, or bugs. Not "vicious cannibals", which means they would eat their own kind.
