Moonquakes are similar to earthquakes but occur on the moon and are caused by different factors such as thermal variations and even meteorite impacts. It is also noteworthy that some moonquakes have been associated with one of the Apollo 17 lunar lander base, thus enhancing our seismic understanding of the Moon.
