Why is Apple focusing on larger iPads instead of the iPad Mini?

For my part, I regarded the iPad Mini as a superb device for portability purposes. Why does Apple now appear to be concentrating on bigger iPads?

Apple appears to be increasingly concentrating on developing bigger iPads with greater functionality, most probably as a result of the availability of larger iPhones and stronger iPads. The position of the iPad Mini in the line-up became more ambiguous when other models began to provide similar portability with more performance.
