BepiColombo has found mapping and detailed craters and basins on Mercury's surface which were not identified before. It has also detected x-ray auroras and presented accounts of Mercury's geologic activity, which causes the planet to this day slowly shrink. These discoveries have provided scientists with a clearer picture of the ongoing, and internal structure of Mercury's geology.
