In the long run, the water repellent capability of the rain jacket which is in-built i.e. DWR finish, can slowly lose effectiveness thus making the jacket hardware less appealing over time. In order to help preserve coverage from water, one should consider approaching the garment on a regular basis to wash it and hence prevent grease or dust from collecting within the 'pores' of the fabric. Furthermore, restoration of the jacket’s DWR coat is possible if treatments are reapplied as appropriate. Furthermore, washing and drying it correctly according to the manufacturer’s requirements might help in optimizing the DWR coating.
