Why do airports require travelers to remove their laptops from their bags and place them in separate bins as part of the security check – is there any explanation for that?

Laptops are rather bulky and X-ray vision isn’t very effective at peering through them, so it is relatively easy to conceal something bad inside. When the laptop is out and slotted into its bin, scanners find it less challenging to locate any Sam’s disturbing items.
