Why Are Airplane Seats Usually Blue?

Is there a learned scholar out there who knows why the aviation industry prefers blue seat covers and whether it has anything to do with any particular aspect?

Blue is commonly selected for the plane seats as it’s thought to help calm the passengers and reduce their anxiety levels during the flight. This also has the benefits that most of the dirt, stains, and scratches are less visible on the seat fabric which is dark blue in color.
