In as many words, as no modern planes are flying blindly now. Airborne planes are designed using pioneered technology which automatically finds other planes, mountains or any other solid bodies in their movement trajectory. There is a notice in the cabin that begins to chant ‘traffic, traffic’ whenever another aircraft comes in a distance of 10 miles. If another aircraft gets to a distance of 5 miles from the other, the system has automatic guidelines for the pilot to navigate the plane around the collision target.

You want to board first to get your carryon near your seat and avoid the long line to board. Always have your seatbealt on when sitting. The TCAS goes off way more than as it is to late to avoid traffic headon when each aircraft is going 500 mph. Separate meals no matter what for pilots. Thunderstorms can go as high as 60k ft. You go around them, not over or below.
