I'm in the hunt for an interesting keyboard case that will also help shield my iPad from any damage. Is there any significant improvement in terms of protection with the Logitech Combo Touch against the Apple Magic Keyboard?

Without a doubt, iLogitech Combotouch does offer more protection due to its rubber edge which wraps around the device which helps protect the edges. Whereas, Apple magic keyboard does not have edge protection.

Thanks for the comparison. I got the Combo Touch for my iPad Air 5 because it was so much cheaper, the keyboard detaches easily, and it has the edge protection. I got the iPad and case after the new Pro released to take advantage of the sale prices on both.

I like how the Apple Magic Keyboard types a bit better ... but I prefer the Logitech case for two reasons. 1) You have better protection on sides but also a more sturdy front and back and iPad will not fall out if nudged off a magnet.  2) The hinge allows you to fold the keyboard so the screen stays open or the screen is protected and closed. This is a big one because I download TV/movies to read at the gym or when traveling. Unfortunately, the hinge on the magic keyboard case only folds forward to the closed position where I cannot see the screen. Not good. So I would have to take the iPad out of the case which makes it more likely over time to get damaged and have to find somewhere to put it. These hassles are eliminated with the Logitech case where you can just fold it up and securely go anywhere with nothing else to carry.

Also, I asked Apple why the magic keyboard case has no side protection. They said because they sell Apple Care. Hmm?

After couple months using the Logitech combo touch, i am really disappointed, if i was able to go back in time, for sure i was not buy this, because the design provided a small space to connect the power cable, so it is only to use with the apple cable instead of other cables like thunder USBC or something like that, now i am not able to use my other cables without take out from the case.

BUT THERE’S NO PROTECTION ON THE SIDES OF THE APPLE. WHAT IF YOU DROP YOUR $2000 IPAD?????????
