New Magic Keyboard with Touch ID enhances secure logins by adding Touch ID. Also, there's a numeric keypad for those who like an extended keyboard, and the battery was changed from a Lightning port to a USB-C one. The touch keyboard does work with Apple silicon Macs and perhaps a few Intel Macs too, although there is some confusion on Apple's AU website regarding this. The keyboard is offered with either white or black keys and does not have a backlight.

After further examination, It looks like the new one has some additional changes besides type C. The FN/Globe key was added/moved to the bottom left corner the left control and left option keys were shrunk to fit this key. The key left of home key were the FN used to be is something that I do not recognize. Also the Command, Option, and Control keys have tweaked positioning of the text on the key.

Hi Aaron, great content as always but you didn't mention the different button to the left of the home button and above the delete button? The older keyboard had a globe but I couldn't make out what the new one had.

Hi everyone,
Apple swapped the Globe-Key. Do we know what the new key does? Looks like multi-connect for different devices?

They moved the fn key to the bottom left side, that's one of the differences.

Oh never realized they updated it

So you didn't even notice the new fn key location on the bottom left?
