You can connect the new Magic Keyboard with Touch ID to a Mac by switching the keyboard on and either plugging it in via USB-C to start the pairing process or directly going into Bluetooth settings of the Mac. The keyboard is expected to show up as a new device nearby, and one can connect it from that point. Touch ID can be configured to quickly unlock the device and authenticate logins once detected.

My Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad just arrived. Neither of them are even recognised as such, just working as a super basic keyboard and mouse, and the Trackpad doesn't even want to connect over bluetooth.

I use a Logitech MX Keys and I think it's way better than one of these for half the price? also, some fan boy will disagree with me but there is ABSOLUTELY NO NEED TO HAVE A KEYBOARD WITH TOUCH ID!. I use a MacBook Pro and every time it asks for a finger print on the MacBook Pro it just asks me to input my passcode with the Logitech keyboard
