Is the new Magic Keyboard with Touch ID backlit?

No,. Magic Keyboard has no backlighting on touch id. This is probably done to conserve battery power since backlighting can be rather power consuming.

TouchID is nice to have, but that’s way too expensive to not have a backlit keyboard. I only expect not having backlighting on budget priced keyboards.

i don't think this keyboard needed a redesign cause it is already perfect. What it really needed was backlighting.

For the past three years, I've been using Logitech MX Keys for Mac, primarily because of their backlit keys. The layout is similar to Apple's Magic Keyboard with extended numeric keys. While I prefer an all-Apple ecosystem, unless or until Apple develops a backlit Magic Keyboard line, I will continue using Logitech’s keyboard.

One thing I don't like, is the forward slash above the keypad, because I do a lot of 10 key touch it messes me up. The " /" key is above the 9 key on the mac keyboard whereas on all other keyboards it is above the 8 key. Now, if it had backlighting and that key where it should be I'd be thrilled.
