Using the Magic Keyboard with an iPad is not the most convenient due to the fact that the keyboard has to be switched off and on to make it discoverable in the Bluetooth settings, and further if you wish to switch to using it with the Mac, you will have to make use of the cable to re-pair it and forget the keyboard on the iPad.
