In a lactate test, at least three steps should be taken in the beginning in order to not make the lactate level rise, small step heights should be used so as not to miss the transitions between the zones and step heights of 10 minutes should be used for sub max protocols. Emphasize that everything has to be done properly. Never test the first drop of blood, only the strong drops. If lactate concentration has reduced, check again the sample. And do the same training procedures you will perform in a race: you should be nourished, caffeinated and made tired as usual.
