Cruise intervals can be defined as training blocks executed in between the typical endurance rides which stimulates the slow-twitch muscle fibers . It includes a shift in performance into the heavy domain for a certain time (225 watts) and the moderate domain for a longer time (180-190 watts). These intervals can be prescribed to improve endurance and can also be designed in terms of duration and intensity according to the athlete’s level of fitness and aspirations.
