I was hoping to have someone explain to me what exactly is going on during the app switch, especially the picture-in-picture feature, on iOS devices.

Apple's mobile operating system, iOS, makes it seamless to switch between different applications and to play videos and audios. For example, a user may effortlessly toggle between picture-in-picture and background media playing which a good number of users regard as handy.

Just so you know, the feature you talk about has been present in Samsung phones for a while now. You just yeet whatever content or pop-up window to the side and it stays out of the screen with a small edge of the content visible. Maybe it's time to come back to the Fold? <3

Edit: Apparently it's a stock Android feature now? Or at the very least it's present in multiple skins

YESSS. It's driving me CRAZY. It feels like there are Phantom Apps. Apple "It just Works" NO it doesn't

Isn't that how android does it as well?

Edit: my note 9 did that. I think it's a thing since Android 7 or 8
