The solution is going to the App Store and downloading Google Calendar, then disabling the stock calendar app as much as possible.

As a daily Apple user.
My biggest gripe I agree with is absolutely the Calendar syncing, Accounts, and the “back” button/swipes. I don’t know how many times I’ve had issues trying to sync and modify my calendar between personal and work schedules. It’s insane

As for the “it just works”. I’d say that’s strictly the case if you’re fully adapted into Apples walled garden. The connectivity between their devices has always been flawless in my use. Even my HomeKit devices. Maybe I’m just lucky, but connecting new devices just works and I usually never have issues afterwards.

Now I haven’t used Android/ google devices in a few years, so maybe it’s changed. But I don’t know how many times I’ve had to reconnect or completely re-setup Google devices and smart home devices on Android. But I do miss the freedom to customize the device how I want.

I selfhost my own caldav server and yes, it is stupid having to go into settings, then calendar and then add a new account there and not directly from the app.
