Can the newly launched SRAM RED shifters be used with other SRAM groups for example the Rival group?

Absolutely, the new SRAM RED shifters are back compatible with other products for example any 12-speed SRAM groups such as Rival. This kind of maintenance enables you to use the new ergonometric RED shifters without needing a full group set replacement.

The shifters look sooo sick. Definitely grabbing a pair when they’re sold individually.

Those levers look just the best, the ability to get your hand round them

nice to see a Cade Media content go back to a calmer more objective style.....backward combaibility is what works for me and as noted the upgrade path for rival/force users is the shifters/calipers. suggestions also that the new shifter design will come quickly to force level for all the 'normal' users.

Visually quite disjointed to my eye, with the callipers and rear derailleur looking like they belong to a different groupset. It's mostly black with silver accents, but then that's inverted for those components.

Are the lever bodies/hoods (as opposed to the levers themselves) quite similar to the Rival shape?

Can you please confirm with SRAM that default shifter setup - left for down, right for up - was chosen because of the age old proverb ‘lefty loosey, righty tighty’?

Can you use just the red shifters with non red brake calipers?
