The Giant Defy has made major steps forward as, with its Advanced SL frame, its top model weighs almost 300 grams less than before, now reaching a weight 20% less than its predecessor. For comfort, Giant still employs the D-Fuse seat post but redesigned it in such a way that it has greater compliance. They also developed a new bar/stem combo that purports to be compliant in the downward direction but stiffer in the upward direction. The bike also has a larger tire size limit as it can now take tires as wide as 38 mm, which helps to improve the overall comfort.

Great year for new bikes. And people realising they'd be better suited on an endurance bike than a race bike. I'm ordering the Giant Defy in January.

I like the direction the Giant Defy has gone in and the geometry is pretty relaxed! Once I find one in my area I think my Domane be moving on.

For me it’s gotta be either Giant Defy or the Vitus Venon, but, if it’s down to cost, the Van Rysel is very very tough to beat.
