Tires for road bikes are narrower and often slick which has lower rolling resistance as well which helps them to ride seamlessly within the boundaries of the bike. On the other hand, gravel bike tires are wider, slumping over the wheel giving off a ‘light bulb’ like shape and are fitted with knobbles for grip which increases rolling resistance. As a result, road tires allow for speed and efficiency on even surfaces whereas gravel tires focus on grip and durability on uneven surfaces.
