Gravel tires cut speed significantly and the difference is obvious even on the road. It is because of the high rolling resistance and poor aerodynamics especially with gravel tires thus, more effort is required to achieve similar speed with road tires. There is a noticeable gain in performance on paved surfaces with road tires switched on a gravel bike.
