Although gravel bike frames allow for more tire clearance – and are thus not designed to be as aerodynamically efficient as road bike frames – most riders will not really notice any difference in performance. Such benefits will be more pronounced in cases in which all elements are arranged in the most aerodynamic way, for example, when a rider is wearing an aero suit or an aero helmet. So for leisure cycling or even for many professional cycling disciplines, the aerodynamic difference between a gravel frame and a road frame won’t be enough to frustrate you or significantly reduce your performance.
