Apple confirms that the front glass of the latest iPhones, 16 and 16 Pro, is about 50% stronger than that of the previous generation phones. The improvement is due to better structural design of ceramic within the glass, which enhances the compressive stress-bearing capacity of the screen. What this means is that while the possibility of cracking may not be substantially reduced, if it cracks, the likelihood of a crack propagating across the entire surface of the screen is low.
