As I prepare my training program, do I increase the intensity of my intervals as race day approaches, or do I ease off?’

More and more studies point out towards the common practice in interval training of peaking workload as racing comes rather close. Other studies, however, reveal that the order of ‘bursting’ sessions (once a week alternating between accentuated constructive overloading or not) does not seem to affect adaptation much regardless of increasing, decreasing, or alternating intensity. What's important is to combine high-intensity exercise and race-preparation during the training cycles.
