Pre-ride activation drills refer specifically to those exercises that help to activate and recruit the gluteal muscles prior to cycling. They further ensure that the right musculature is engaged while pedaling offering improved muscle stability, greater power output and better chances of efficient climbs. Pain in the knees and other areas associated with muscle overuse can be reduced by activating glutes so TFL (tensor fasciae latae) loads to an unnecessary level are avoided.

These are great for correcting duck feet too. I found that I tracked better when cycling and both quads were balanced in the saddle
