The phrase 'god-given' should probably be avoided because it indicates a person cares more about the perceived assignment than their life. The actions undertaken in the name of their assignment can go to extreme levels, and more often than not, justify the actions which otherwise would be harmful. Life makes little sense on this earth if you have a sense of a purpose or an assignment from above, and such people can become quite cruel, the text argues.
