Considering their open structure, do you think the AirPods 4’s active noise-cancellation works effectively?

Even so, the ANC on the AirPods 4 ANC has been considerably advanced than what was hoped as is the reduction of ambient noises ranging in mid to high frequencies levels, which are over fifty percent. But they do not block low frequencies to the same extent as the AirPods Pro 2. Thus, probably, they are not the most appropriate for a regular traveler. The effectiveness of ANC also takes into consideration how deeply the AirPods penetrate to the auditory canal.

I own the Pro 2’s but prefer unsealed earbuds in a crowd or at the grocery store so I bought the AP4 with ANC. These are the first unsealed earbuds that fit in my ears snug and don’t need constant adjustments. I was surprised these have good bass, they get loud, and the ANC actually works in certain situations. I tested the Spatial Audio with movies and it sounded really good. The sound is full and good for gaming too. The Pro 2 do everything a little better overall but these aren’t a bad option for those who prefer no tips

Thanks for an informative review! I have the issue with one side emitting significantly more noise with the AirPods Pro, as the left silicone tip keeps losing its seal after a short while or when I open my jaw too wide. Traditional AirPods fit better in my ears, so I hope the AirPods 4 will offer the best of both worlds. I still use AirPods Max for heavy lifting like airplanes or when I want (almost) complete silence.

Also do you guys have any measurements of the Air Pods 3 vs 4's passive noise isolation? Would be nice to see just how open they are on your dummy head.

Edit: you had some passive iso in the written review. THanks! Buying these now

Although I already have the Pro 2, I still bought AP4 ANC. I had the AP3 but I didn't like the fit and it had trouble staying in my ears compared to AP4 that fits perfectly in my ears. I got the AP4 for work and I would listen to music in one ear when working but whenever someone come up to me and starts talking I had to remove my Pro 2 that is in transparency mode due to that I can't fully understand what they're saying which is why I bought the ANC version of AP4 for the transparency and will test it out on Monday.
