What's New with the Latest AirPods Max?

My headphones do a great job but I have been thinking about upgrading to the latest AirPods Max. What are the new features of this device compared to the former model?

The latest AirPods Max have introduced newer colors and have changed charging ports to USB-C. Nevertheless, the overall structure and sound quality are identical to the previous version of this model. So those of you who expected some major, or even minor, technical evolution or enhancement in the sound here will be disappointed with this version.

Even the company didn’t bother to call them AirPods Max 2. They are the same headphones. Only new things are the port they were forced to use and the new color “ooo ahhh, shiny, new” effect

I went to the Apple Store and tried the new model... I might be imagining this, but I noticed something interesting. The metal headband feels a bit stiffer, so the ear cups seem to press against the ears more, relying less on the mesh. Also, the mesh itself feels slightly springier. I was able to compare because they still had an older generation on display. Has anyone else noticed the same thing?

With old ones you could buy an odd 3.5-lightning cable and connect to any 3.5 output. Is there a way to do that with new ones?

Iv never bought the originals simply because it was lighting, my IPhone, iPad, MacBook, AirPod pros, hell even my Xbox controller and gaming headset are all USB C. The second I saw they updated its port I ordered them after the event. I have one cable on my desk that works on everything and I love it.

do they support usb audio?  

I suspect these were made to meet a compliance deadline in the EU, like "they had to have usb for everything by such and such a date..."

Good for you for trying them out, but I would be sending them back, especially as they still have that ridiculous and terrible 'case' and the headband mesh is bound to get saggy again. Not a great design. Disappointing product overall.
