The best iPads to buy for 2024 include the 10th gen iPad that is relatively the best for features and price, also the 13 inches iPad Air which has in a much oh cheaper price than the rus. For a starting price of $349, the 10th gen iPad is a great device that will not disappoint its users. The 13 inch air however is big and has an M series chip for all Apple intelligence features. The competition between the iPad Mini and the new iPad Pros is fierce, but they do not seem to offer value for money.

I want a 13” sized iPad, but the 13” iPad Air M2 brand new costs as much as a similar specced but used 12.9” iPad Pro M2 plus a used Magic Keyboard plus a new Pencil gen 2. After I bought it, turns out it was originally sold in Nov 2022, and according to the Apple Store still has 95% battery health.

Considering the miniLED screen is tons better than the regular LCD Air screen, I think I made the right choice.

I have the latest Pro 13 and the iPad mini and I don’t think I’d recommend them to anyone even though I love it. They’re very niche enthusiast devices. I agree with the recommendations here - if you are looking for a simple iPad, go for the 10th gen iPad. If you want a nice secondary laptop style experience, get the 13’ Air.

If Apple were to trim down their product portfolio, it would simply come down to keeping the basic iPad and the current Air (maybe with a 120hz option). And hopefully one pencil to support both lines. Everything else in their iPad lineup is unnecessary right now.

Thanks so much for your ideas & input. After all that I think I will go with the 13" Air

I went from PC desktop to PC laptop to iPad….and, since 2017, have remained iPad only.
Basic stuff, obviously, but also tons of pdfs with my nerd old-school rpg (D&D and more)… also, more importantly, I’ve been using just and only base model (except for storage) iPads to do full-on music creation/production with multiple apps, etc for years. Never once needed an iPad Air nor an iPad Pro.
Also, as I’ve transferred everything from iPad to iPad, and saving tons of docs, samples, music files, music production tools, etc….. I’ve used a total of 52GB…..over 7 years!
My “basic” 2020 iPad can still do everything and anything I throw at it.
There are absolutely and inarguable cases wherein ya need more, perhaps a whole lot more….but, don’t be fooled into imagining ya need the latest and greatest iPad.

Buy the iPad Pro 11" 3rd Gen for 350 used and you got the best deal:

-M1 Chip for Apple Intelligence and iOS 18
-Normal and Ultrawide Camera
-LiDAR sensor
-Crazy ass mics and speakers
-FaceID
-Pen 2 and Smart Folio Keyboard Support

Best choice rn, buy before iOS 18 is out, cos prices will boom.

Number 1 is iPad Air 11  since it will be the best seller iPad this 2024 I reckon.

I much prefer to work with the iPad/Magic Keyboard but, because iOS doesn't run a piece of software that is crucial to my work flow, I have to stick with my MacBook Air and maybe consider getting an iPad Mini to satisfy my iPad desires.  Apple!

Thank you for the content. I needed a kindle. But I realised it's better to buy the iPad.

This was of tremendous help. Thanks for sorting this all out making a decision to get a new IPad all the much easier . Currently using a 5th generation, 2017 iPad. I believe software updates for this generation are coming to an end . Big Thank you

I would avoid the base iPad because it doesn't have the longevity of the Air and Pro models. I know many people that still use the first or second gen iPad Pro without any problems while the standard iPad from those times are almost unusable.
I would recommend the Air and if you want the few extra features of the pro (promotion, faceid, oled screen, better speakers) then go for the pro but its absolutely not necessary.

11 inch IPad Pro and IPad Mini for me.

Unless I missed it, I think the RAM differs, certainly between the base model and the others? This will also make a difference in multitasking
