There have been advances in the design of the iMac as it now comes with a Touch ID embedded into the keyboard. I am intrigued about its reliability as well as the way it works.

The latest iMac has a Touch ID sensor which is part of a Magic Keyboard instead of an eject key in earlier models. This works the same as the Touch ID feature on any other Apple device, providing a speedy and safe means of biometric verification. The entire installation is easy and quite quick, and the sensor itself is good for unlocking the iMac, making payments or authorizing other secure operations.

The “useless” eject key is a very commonly used key if you shortcut to turn off your Mac; Cmd + Opt + Alt + Eject = shutdown computer. I use it all the time. Hope that they have considered this….

I must say the lack of eject key is a pretty big loss for me - I use it every day to turn off my Mac with a keyboard shortcut (ctrl+opt+cmd+eject). That's why I'm still on A1048 keyboard

The Eject key isn’t totally useless. In the before WFH time I’d use Control–Shift–Media Eject as the quick way to put the display to sleep.
