What to Expect from the New Mac Mini Design in 2024?

Can anyone explain the adjustments that are going to be applied to the renewed Mac Mini in the 2024 release?

The anticipated 2024 Mac Mini is said to come out with an entirely unique design which is set to be much smaller when compared to the current model. Leaks indicate that it will be similar in terms of surface area to the Mac Studio but with a lesser height. It is also expected to include five USB-C ports, potentially a combination of USB 4, Thunderbolt 4, and USB 3.0 or 3.2 ports, at the rear. The design might bear similarities with those of the first Apple TV units and may utilize a built-in power supply like the iMac, which would have an ethernet port incorporated into the power supply for minimalistic design.

I don't quite understand why the MM should be smaller, to overheat more?
My first MM was the original design, i.e. 16.5x16.5x5cm, which suited me very well. Then came the "unibody" design, which I didn't like very much, but I got used to it. However, I would not consider anything smaller than the original MM design to be a reasonable solution.

I really hope to see a refreshed Mac Mini with color options like the iMac. That would be awesome. Either way, if the Mac Mini gets a design update I’ll be upgrading from my M1. Fingers crossed for Oct. 15th!
