How will M4 chip influence the new Mac Mini’s form and functionality?

The M4 chip is expected to be more power-efficient and have a lower thermal output than its predecessors- M2 or M3. This puts Apple in a position to shrink the size of the new Mac Mini’s fan or cooling system. This increases the likelihood of the product being smaller in size. Further, the M4 chip should be more powerful, with the entry models even featuring 16Gb of RAM according to leaks.

it's not just a question of a redesign of the new and possibly smaller Mac mini M4, it's also  requires an update of various clients to be compatible with Wifi 7. That combination will be potent. And as for the RAM, well the old adage still applies: the more, the better.    Brian

I would have hoped to see the new M4 mac mini closer in design and specs to the existing Mac studio , with the Mac studio specs jacked up by a notch or two.
Base model m4 mac mini should be 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD with HDMI 2.1, with options for 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD,  and 64GB RAM, 2TB SSD.
On port selection, I still feel they should retain the two existing USB-A's, add one more HDMI 2.1 specifically in the M4 pro and M4 max SKU's. They should fix the Wifi 6E 6GHz band wifi stability  issues they had in the M2 mac mini. Hopefully, Wifi7 does it and improve the range of bluetooth connectivity from M2 mac mini.
I'd like to see M4 pro mac mini  with a 16 core CPU, 32 core GPU.
Finally , I would like to have a feature in macOS, where I can stack multiple Mac mini's and virtualize it as pools of one or more computing storage, media, and network interface units and if required share these pools between clients/applications.

I'd love a 64 or even 128GiB option, the M4 should be powerful enough to run ollama and even the larger models with it.

M4 Mac Mini will be a great update to my first generation M1, the design leaks look good. This little computer is a great alternative to have at home for any kind of work.

I have been saying move the ethernet port to the mag-safe power brick for two years now. It makes sense; specially if moving to an M4/ M4Pro chip and slightly shrinking the form factor.
Apple could also differentiate the Studio; making it M4Max a M4Ultra with active cooling systems but keeping with the current Studio form factor.

I would love to have a Mac M4 Mini, but I barely use my M1 Mac Mini as my work MacBook (I work from home) is a beast.  But I am excited about the iPad Pro.  I'm currently using a 2nd generation iPad.  Still going strong.
