All that time it was shocking that major tobacco industries knew about the link between smoking and cancer as well as the addictive nature of nicotine. They took part in an orchestrated effort called Operation Berkshire which sought to create [the appearance] of legitimate controversy regarding smoking and its health risks. There were possibilities for reducing the health risks of cigarettes but people chose not to because addiction to nicotine was lucrative.

Today, it is extremely easy to spread lies, whether big or small. That’s why we should always hear both sides of the story based on *facts*. However, any big company (or government) will always deny or cover up a  fact to preserve their self interest.

Actually the leading scientist in tobacco applied & worked for sugar industry. His cover letter has been made public & he states he’ll do same for sugar.

When he was a kid my grandma told my dad not to smoke because it caused cancer... This was in the early 40s. Losing your wind, coughing, wheezing, hacking up black shit, dying suspiciously young. It didn’t take a genius to know smoking was bad for you...

Big Sugar is still playing the same game as Big Tobacco did, and yet no one does anything about it.

“Addiction made then a lot of money” that one line is so depressing.

They should’ve made a scene in the 1950’s. A doctor sitting at his desk smoking a cigarette and drinking a glass of tap water. The nurse walks in and screams “Oh my God do you know how dangerous that is” ? Then she walks over,  snatches up the glass of water and walks out.

The worst thing about the Big Tobacco conspiracy is it lead to a movie starring Brits and Aussies with absolutely horrible "American" accents. The world doesn't want or need cancer or Russell Crowe.
