I don't know if I would call them ‘rumors’ exactly, but I have heard several stories surrounding the 1919 World Series with something quite similar as a theme. What is your take on those events and what do you know about the players that were implicated?

Of course, these rumors of the fixing of the 1919 World Series are true. A grand jury investigation uncovered that eight members of the Chicago White Sox, including ‘Shoeless’ Joe Jackson, were part of a scheme to lose the series in return for cash. Even though they were acquitted from any crime during the trial, they were banned for life from the league.
