Joyce MeyerAdhering to your own priorities is indeed a challenge. I have difficulties in our constantly reactive environment as well. The problem does not lie in not knowing how to choose my battles and focus on my own path, but rather in the inability to remain focused on myself in a world that bombards me with messages of what to care about and what to do at all times. Why, for example, was I able to guide social media focusgroups early in my career instead of going out there myself? Simple - there was a necessity to concentrate on a specific objective rather than multitasking. The progression of those experiences changed me completely and during that time I was successful and productive. A life devoid of explicit or implicit objectives, such as knowing what I won't use my time and energy for, is simply impossible in our cultural reality. The multi-tasking might be in me, however what is much stronger is the objective focus.

Establishing the so called ‘categories of improvement’ within the individual or business goals structure is the primary step to take when one wishes to streamline their efforts towards specific areas. You can take control of your life better by segmenting your time into units that have a specific purpose in the form of these qualified areas. Therefore, you would focus on the most critical tasks instead of flitting from one distraction or somebody else’s emergencies to another. With a life management system such as OPA, it is possible to make sure that one is engaging in values-driven activities that are goal-oriented.
