For my needs, which are largely uncomplicated, such as email responses and light internet activities, I am looking at purchasing an M2 Mac Mini. Will it serve these tasks well?

For casual usage like, checking emails, browsing the internet, watching videos, or paying bills, looking for information, the basic model M2 Mac Mini is useful as well. In case you have a monitor, keyboard and a mouse already, you will be fine using the M2 Mac Mini for these activities.

Funny, but all the Apple centric channels think that everybody is a creator, needs the highest end everything, etc. The PC channels suffer the same thing, the gaming disease. Apple sells more of the base models of mac mini's, macbook airs. 99.9 percent of their business is towards the rest of us. I'm old now retired, worked in the car business all of my life, even at GM as trainer. The most common thing was people tended to overbuy, like a 15 way power seat, when they only drove it, set it once and never moved it. Apple of course is like any other company, it tries to market to creators, influencers etc, so that you can maybe someday, be like that guy on mac rumors! Those of us that are based in the real world just want something that works, we're not going to edit in 8K in final cut pro etc.

Thanks for the content. I bought a M2 Mac mini with 16 Go of ram and 256 Go SSD because this machine will be a secondary computer (the primary being a Fedora-based PC). I'll plug a 500 Go external SSD as well. François

I have MacBook Air M1 second tiered one with 8 ram 8gpu 512 connected to my Dell 34” monitor. I was thinking of getting the Mac mini M2 base model to have a dedicated desktop and free up my MacBook Air. You think it’s a good idea or waste of cash?

Great content. Most reviews are from a content creator perspective. Do you have any feedback re: I'm about to start my Data Science training - will the M2 Mac Mini base model suffice for that? Thanks!

Dude, I browse the web and watch YouTube. I like the form factor and ecosystem. Mac mini is plenty for me. My upgrade is to 16gb.

I am new to Apple products per say.  I owned the Iphone 8 until I broke it and now have a 13pro.  Now, I am in the market for the desk top.
The current desktop I have is a Dell tower with 1TB or storage.  My biggest thing for a desk top is storage.  I do have a OneDrive and Cloud Drive account.  I want something that is quick and has storage space. I don't do much more than surf web, manage budgets, banking etc....  What would be recommended?

As an owner of an iMac (Core i5, late-2013) and an M1 Mac Mini, both of which were bought from Apple as refurbished models, the idea of both the M2 and M2Pro Mac Mini is quite intriguing. Max Tech did a review of the M2 MacBook Air using pseed test benchmarks several months ago. One of their benchmark tests revealed that the M2 substantially improved the snappyness of basic tasks, such as browser performance. It would be interesting to see if this observation holds up on the newly released Mac Mini models and MacBook Pros.

How would the basic Mac M2 Mini go speced to 1TB drive and 32 GB RAM go? Any suggestions anyone? I’m not in the US but New Zealand so there could well be some discrepancies in price between the two countries.
