How does the build quality of the Apple Studio Display compare to other monitors?

Personally, I'm looking for a monitor that is built very solidly. How does the apple studio display compare?

The construction of Apple Studio Display is very good and has a solid structure of a single piece of aluminum which is quite sturdy, does not flex and makes the monitor very robust. In addition, the stand is made in a solid, smooth and nice way which helps this model in being better than numerous other monitors available today.

Taylor! I still love my ASD. I like the esthetic of it. I check out others and can’t find any at all that compare, build wise. Dude! So happy to see you not living next to a freeway anymore. You seem much happier in the new place. Cheers!

This might be the best objective review of the ASD I’ve seen. Good work! I’ve owned 2 ASDs since it was first released back in '22 to use with my MBP. I was (and still am) blown away at the picture and sound quality. Also, as you mentioned, the build quality it top notch. I’m not a gamer so the 60hz refresh rate wasn’t really a deal breaker. HOWEVER… there are some other little issues that I’m not happy with:
1. No on-device controls. It would be nice to at least have a power button.
2. It’s running an A13 chip and iOS. I’ve noticed that over a period, I have to unplug and plug-in the monitor to reboot because conferencing audio (FaceTime, Teams, Zoom) sometimes gets distorted. This has happened on the first ASD I purchased in 2022 and then on the 2nd ASD I purchased just a few months ago. (Apple support recommended the reboot.)
3. Screen height. Even if you get the height adjustable stand, at the lowest setting it sits uncomfortably high (for me).

I’m hopeful that Apple is going to come up with a refresh for the ASD before the end of the year but I won’t hold my breath. Still, I would recommend the current model but only if it’s available at a significant discount from the $1600 base price. Even with the picture and build quality, it no longer commands the premium price.
