For editing videos and photographs, I would require a monitor with strong color reproduction. In this aspect, how does the Samsung ViewFinity S9 stack up?

The Samsung ViewFinity S9 has a good color accuracy because it covers 99% of the DCI P3 color gamut which is great for professional video and photo editors. This is a fraction of a percent more than the Apple Studio Display. Furthermore, the S9 does come with a built-in smart calibration tool that enables users to retain color accuracy as it is inevitable monitors suffer from color drift with age.

I don't think it's possible to tell the difference between 98% of DCI P3 and 99%. That's just silly. And just because Samsung has a phone app to recalibrate the monitor doesn't mean that the app does a good job. Otherwise why would it cost so much money to buy a separate hardware colorimeter or spectrophotometer? The Samsung monitor certainly has worthy features but these two are not among them!

Unfortunately, this monitor uses a BOE panel, not a Samsung display one, surprisingly. This BOE panel is nothing but inferior compared to the LG panel in Apple Studio display.

Anyone that needs a 5K colour accurate display is most likely going to have control over the lighting in their workspace let’s be realistic. No one wants that low quality matt finish. I also would never trust Samsung colour, after seeing what they do with their phones. The LG still seems like a better display if you can’t afford the Apple. Also it’s plastic and wobbly but not that much cheaper. Half the quality for ¾ of the price haha

Funny, people worry about color accuracy when 99% of monitors and screens people watch the content aren’t calibrated so they don’t see what you see anyway on a calibrated monitor.

1. Samsungs colors tend to be over saturated, at least in stores. 2. What are the color gamuts offered by this monitor other than sRGB and DCI P3? (EG Adobe RGB?) Thank you.
